BIO

Musician and sound artist Chantale Laplante explores  instrumental and mixed music genres, computer improvisation, live processing and sound installation.

Her artistic practice aims at both the conceptual and paradigmatic investigation of the hyperlistening body, a mode of listening adhering to an embodied perception and a polymorphic auditory input. Since 2013, Laplante has been exploring different configurations for presenting musical works that are in line with interdisciplinary practices. Each production presents itself as a laboratory for the development of a critical project on the process of musical creation and on the relationship between the public, the musician and the place as a spacing of resonances. She deepens these notions in her dissertation in research-creation (Studies and practices of the arts, University of Quebec in Montreal, 2021): The hyperlistening body. Story of an embodied listening experience and its extension in an atmospheric apparatus.
